September 30, 2024

Hey y'all, what's going on?

As you can tell by the calendar on my desktop, it says that the month of September is drawing to a close. I'm just happy that the fall season arrived last week where the temps got cooler and the leaves changes color as part of its fall foliage.

I'm getting myself a new phone this week, because the one I currently got just gave up upgrading and updating. We were suppose to take it to Xfinity to get the data and stuff upgraded, but that didn't happen.

Today's September 30th and it has been 4 years since I've been heavily cyberbullied by the toxic internet wrestling community aka the IWC, because I called out and criticized a vignette that featured ex-AEW wrestler Miro and disgraced recordholder Billy Mitchell. Billy Mitchell, if you remember back in 2018, cheated his way into the record books by using software to get record scores in Donkey Kong. To prove that I've been cyberbullied, here's a screenshot I took on the night I criticized that vignette with Billy Mitchell in it.

This is where this user on Twitter retweeted my post after I stood up to him saying that he's hereby blocked and reported calling me a "clown." Because of his behavior, he would get on anyone and call out anyone who try to criticize anything they see on a wrestling show. That, right there, is grade A tribalism and gatekeeping. I reported the staff on him for this incident, but reporting the user didn't cure the remedy and did not punish the user.

But this is where it gets better from there. I tried to get everyone to hear my side of what happened, but I received little to no feedback or comforting words of support from no one. An AEW fangirl stood by and defended the incident and called me out for standing up to the user after I've been called out and calling me out of my name.  After the cyberbullying I had to endure on Twitter, I was on the verge of breaking down and cried very hard. Then , I had a chance to talk to those who would want to listen after what the aggressor(s) had done to me. I was gonna take a month off at first, but the platform has left me with no other alternative but for me to leave Twitter after 10 months on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020.

However, I gave Twitter a 2nd chance in January of 2021, but the cyberbullying carried on in the hands of a different user with this tweet below.

With that tweet I've just read, that was the straw that really broke the camel's back. And finally in July, I left that toxic platform for good. It not only took a toll of my life, but it has taken a toll of my mental health, my wellbeing and it has taken a toll of my personal life the IWC fanbase attacked. If a genie grants me up to 3 wishes in this society, the 1st one on the top of the list would be for everyone to just watch a decent wrestling show on TV or in person without getting themselves involved in the IWC fanbase where there's a lot of tribalism, gatekeeping and immaturity being tolerated.

I watched AEW full-time right up until the cyberbullying took place on Twitter, but I made a decision for me to quit watching AEW or any other wrestling show on TV. Making that decision has been very tough on me then and it's been tough on me now after watching a video by a wrestling fan calling people out for trying to criticize MJF's title reign last year. After I saw that video, I went on Instagram where I removed and blocked that wrestling fan for gatekeeing. In addition, I quit following AEW, because that company has a lot of toxic fanbase who celebrates ignorance.

With that lesson learned the hard way, I'm no longer a wrestling fan full-time after some 27 years. Since then, I'm struggling with my mental health, trying to regain friendships with others and it's something that takes time and it's being done one step at a time.

Always be yourself, always be you 💚

South Africa Frees Mandela - February 1990

South African Pres. F.W. de Klerk, February 2, that black nationalist leader Nelson Mandela, who had been in prison for treason for 27 years, would soon be freed. In a surprising speech, de Klerk also said his government was lifting its ban on the African National Congress, the principal black organization opposing white minority rule. He also announced legislation of the South African Communist Party and the Pan-African Congress, and the lifting the restrictions on 33 groups and 374 individuals. He said news censorship would end, executions would be suspended, nonviolent political prisoners would be freed, and power-sharing talks with black leaders were on the horizon. Mandela, 71, was released from prison, February 11. His release was hailed around the world. In his first speech, in Cape Town, February 11, he urged that the pressure to be kept on the white government until the apartheid system of racial segregation was destroyed. More than 100,000 people welcomed him home to Soweto, February 13. Up to 20,000 conservative whites protested in Pretoria, February 15, against the legalization of ANC and the freeing of Mandela. In his first trip outside of South Africa since being released, Mandela went to Zambia, February 27, to meet with ANC leaders. He was greeted by official delegations from many countries. Meeting with Pres. George bush in Washington, D.C., February 28, Zulu Chief Mangosuthu Gatsha Buthelezi called on the president to lift economic sanctions against South Africa.

The Time I... Beat Gauntlet Legends at Aladdin's Castle

It was an average but ordinary late summer day in 1999, I got myself all dressed up in my WWF Headbangers shirt and my usual arcade outfit so I can say goodbye to my mom and I take the bus to and from the Chicago Ridge Mall. I make my usual entrance at Aladdin's Castle as I always do since going there by myself on November 3, 1997. I deposited a couple of $20 bills to get my tokens to play games starting with Galaga which I been doing since 1997. But a voice in my mind telling me to play Gauntlet Legends, because it's the sequel of the popular Gauntlet video game series.

This game has 4 players just like the other Gauntlet arcade games except the console versions since it was manufactured by Tengen and released in July 1988. Gauntlet Legends, is a game where up to 4 players guide and fight their way to finding 12 rune stones hidden somewhere in the fictional world. In this session, I've chosen Warrior, the red player to start the game. In the first loop of the game, I was having a tough time finding the rune stones in just about every round, I couldn't figure out the shortcuts and hidden areas or anything. All I did was to go through the 1st loop hoping I could find all 12 stones halfway through my arcade session about a few hours in.

After completing the 1st loop, the game tells me that I found not that many rune stones in order to beat the game after the final boss. Then comes the 2nd loop and it was definetly crunch time for me, because the onlookers who were there at the arcade were either passing by and playing other arcade games, watching my trying to get all 12 stones in the 2nd loop, or both. Well, it's both. A few number of them watched me play, but maybe one or two of them joined in at one point, but their runs during the 2nd loop I was in didn't last. That night, I finally found the 10th, 11th and 12th rune stones in order to face the final boss and beat him.

I made it to the real final boss after all 12 rune stones are found. And after a total of a record-shattering nine hours, I beat the game just in time because Aladdin's Castle just concluded its business day and the mall itself also concluded its business day as well. This happens to go down as one of the longest-running sessions I ever had playing just one single game and beaten it before closing time.

Thousands Killed in Mexican Earthquake - September 1985
A powerful earthquake sent deadly shockwaves through central and southwestern Mexico, September 19, taking more than 5,000 lives and causing widespread destruction. Heaviest devastation was in the capital, Mexico City. The epicenter of the quake was placed 230 miles southwest of the center of Mexico City. The quake measured at a high of 7.8 on the Richter Scale. A second earthquake, lesser in force but still severe at 7.3 on the scale, struck some of the same areas, September 20, that 250 buildings had been destroyed in Mexico City and 50 more had been damaged beyond repair. In the days after the quakes, more buildings collapsed. Rescue efforts concentrated on saving living persons trapped inside the wreckage, and thousands of people helped remove the rubble, using their hands, picks and shovels, and larger equipment where it could be employed safely. Tens of thousands of people were made homeless, and most of them had no choice but to live and sleep in the open.

For 14.5 years, America been figuring out every single rebus puzzle from the comfort of their homes, but sadly Concentration has gotten every home viewer watching for the 3,796th and last time as the longest-running game program on daytime TV. The puzzle of the show's debut on Monday, August 25, 1958 with future 20/20 newsman Hugh Downs as host was "It Happened One Night" & the final puzzle on show #3,796 was "You've Been More than Kind."

Since there was no winner in Mrs. Louella Rosen's 6th game after Mrs. Gail Meyers found the birthday present at $100/year for every year the show's been on making it $1,400, the producer took the present and give the ladies $700 each.

In the final few moments, Bob Clayton told everyone that Concentration aired its last show and thanked everyone who loved the show over the years. As the credits rolled for one last time, instead of the show's theme, the tune Auld Lang Syne was played as the cameras get shots of Bob Clayton alongside Paola Diva, the 2 contestants and the studio audience.

The following Monday, March 26th, a new show Baffle hosted by Dick Enberg takes over Concentration's time slot as Clayton found a new home as the announcer of a new Bob Stewart game called The $10,000 Pyramid until his death.

Swaggart Admits Sin to Congregation - February 1988

Speaking on February 21, before more than 6,000 at his Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Jimmy Swaggart admitted an unspecified sin and asked for forgiveness. In 1987, Swaggart denounced another TV evangelist, Jim Bakker, as a "cancer on the body of Christ" after Bakker had been linked to sexual misbehavior. Swaggart had also accused Marvin Gorman---who, like Bakker and Swaggart, was an Assemblies of God minister---of adultery. Gorman later obtained photographs of Swaggart taken by a private detective that placed Swaggart at a motel frequently used by prostitutes. Gorman handed over the evidence to the Assemblies of God. While it was not made public, the evidence was sufficient for Swaggart to admit an indiscretion, and for the local leaders of the church to bar him, February 22, from the pulpit for three months and impose a two-year period of rehabilitation. Swaggart conducted the country's most popular religious broadcast, which brought in donations of $150M a year.

September 16, 2024

Hey y'all, what's going on?

As we enter the final week of the summer season, I'm very happy that summer's going away this Sunday to kick off the first day of fall. Over the weekend, I added some new games to the PS2 emulator. The games I added are Real Pool, R-Type Final, Raiden III and Flipnic. I already played Raiden III and I've beaten it which is the 727th game added to my credit.

Now I know that I don't watch NFL football anymore since 2020, but I really feel that the NFL has dropped the ball on their concussion protocols, and I also feel that the reason for this, is because they treat their players like a bunch of savages. I may get heat for saying this, but it's all true from the way I see it. Their new rules are confusing and the regular season schedule is just too much to bear.

What's going on with the sport of college football? If I could just come up with just one word how I feel about the current state of college football, it's the one word I'll be stuck with, and that word is pathetic. Why I use the word pathetic? It's because of the conference realignments, their now-expanded palyoff system and teams who act as the "favorites" constantly been running up the score. I was a fan of that, but as of this writing, I feel that there's no real competition to the opposing teams to keep the games from reaching its climax.

From everything I said, the sport of college football has died. All of this is all about the money in the hands of the suits of the NCAA, because it's all about the paid athletes over student-athletes and I just find everything wrong it.

Always be yourself, always be you 💚

Biggest Quake in 40 Years Jolts California - June 1992

Southern California was rocked by 2 big earthquakes in June. The quakes came 2 months after other shocks in April that had caused about 100 injuries. On June 26, an earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale---the highest reading in California in 40 years---shook Southern California. Its epicenter was in Yucca Valley, about 90 miles east of Los Angeles. A second quake, measuring 6.5 followed 3 hours later. Its center was about 20 miles west of the first shock. Seismologists said the 2 were related. One child was killed, some 350 persons were injured, and damage was estimated at $16M.

I welcome all who stop by my blog and see what I posted and the stuff I upload. If you like what you see, please feel free to drop a comment and I'll do my best to reply.

At the end of each entry since I'm struggling with my mental health, I always say "Always be yourself, always be you 💚" and that's what I'll be saying in some blog entries.

Always be yourself, always be you 💚
