For 16 years, channel 7 delighted and charmed Chicagoans airing movies under the 3:30 and 3 O'Clock Movie banners every weekday afternoon leading into Eyewitness News, but after 16 years and 3,946 airings in the afternoon time slot, The 3:30 and 3 O'Clock Movie bids viewers a fond farewell. Under the 3:30 Movie banner, it all began on Monday, September 2, 1968 with Mannequin as the very 1st movie airing. As the tradition continues under the 3 O'Clock Movie banner, the 2,974th airing was Doctors' Wives. Over the past 16 years, both banners had their popular theme weeks devoted to Elvis, April Fools Day, 2001, Epic movies, the box office, the '76 elections, and more. Friday, July 27th, the popular daytime drama, The Edge of Night moves to 3p and Woman to Woman moves to 3:30p respectively.
